Composition Job Window

Identifies a job or project the composition assembles. The column shows the file name; rest the pointer on it to see the full path. Add members with Add, which lists the jobs in your job folder, or with Browse at the bottom of that list to select a job (.waj) or project (.wep or .wrp) stored elsewhere. Members are removed with Remove and reordered with Up and Down. Order matters only for the members a composition builds, which are built in the order listed.

Specifies what the member contributes to the composed site. Shell marks the member that supplies the site itself — its chrome, its entry page, and the output format the composed site is built from. Parcel marks a member that supplies content. Infer leaves the member's own job in charge of what it publishes. For a member the composition builds, the role also decides which slice of that member's output is deployed. A composition normally names exactly one member as the shell.

Identifies an output target the member declares for itself in the composition job file, which overrides the Output target selection for that member. This column appears only when a member carries such a declaration, and it is shown read-only so the override is visible rather than silent. To change or remove the declaration, edit the composition job file.

Specifies whether this composition builds the member. Clear this check box for a member that its own job publishes on its own schedule; the composition then reads the output that member already deployed. Select it for a member this composition should build and deploy to the composition's own destination. For more information, see Built Members and the Build Flag.

Specifies the output target every member builds and composes through. The list offers the targets the members declare, and only targets whose output format supports composition can be used. Leave the selection set to (automatic) to have each member's own target detected. Whichever way the target is chosen, every member must produce the same output format; target names may differ from team to team, formats may not. Stores the definition of the destination in the composition job file. Type a Destination name, select Folder or Amazon S3 as the Deployment type, and complete the fields for that type. A definition stored in the job travels with the job, so a computer that has never had the destination defined on it can still run the composition.

Uses a destination already defined on this computer. Select it from the Destination list. A destination the composition names but this computer does not define stays in the list and stays selected, so editing the composition here does not lose the reference; the name must resolve on the computer that runs the composition. Composes every published help set found at the destination, without listing them. A parcel appears in the site as soon as it is deployed and the composition runs again.

Declares the composed table of contents yourself. Click Add Group... to place a published group and Add Container... to create a folder that holds groups. Drag an entry onto a container to nest it, or use Up and Down to reorder entries. Remove deletes the selected entry. A group is an authoring unit with published output; a container is only a folder in the composed table of contents. For more information, see Where Parcels Appear in the Composed Site.

Adds groups you did not list to the composed site as well, after the ones you did. Available with Custom. Select this when parcel owners should be able to publish new content into the site without an edit to the composition.
